Tanoura show for private parties and Arabian nights

Lanterns, low seating and a dancer spinning on the carpet. A tanoura show turns a private party into an Arabian night your guests remember.

For a private party in Dubai, a tanoura dancer gives you one strong moment in the evening: 15 to 20 minutes of spinning colour in the middle of your guests. It fits a birthday, an engagement, a villa party, a yacht evening or a full Arabian night theme with lanterns and low majlis seating. Send the date and the setting and we send the dancers who are free, with a price.

Price: a standard tanoura show usually costs AED 1,500 to AED 2,200 and an LED tanoura show AED 2,000 to AED 3,000. See tanoura show prices.

Building an Arabian night

An Arabian night works when the setting and the show tell the same story. Hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi run folklore nights and themed dinners with tanoura dancers, and you can bring the same idea home:

  • Setting: carpets, cushions and low seating around an open circle, lanterns and candles.
  • Main act: a tanoura show once dinner is served, while everyone is seated.
  • Second act: a dabke troupe that ends its set by pulling guests into the line, or an ayala or yola set for a heritage theme.
  • After the shows: your own music or a DJ.

Indoors, outdoors or on a yacht

Tanoura can be performed indoors or outdoors, at private villas, gardens, desert camps and on cruise decks. Sand or grass is fine for a traditional skirt. For an LED show, choose a flat hard floor and an evening slot, because the lights need darkness to read. On a yacht or a terrace, check the open floor space and the railing height before you book.

Space at home

The dancer needs a clear circle about 2.5 to 3 metres across with a non-slip surface, away from steps, cables and furniture the skirt could catch. Move coffee tables out of the circle and keep candles on the edge, not in it. For a dabke line, measure the floor, because the troupe moves as a line rather than staying on one spot. See dabke dancers.

Permits for private parties

A party at a private villa usually needs no separate permit for the act. A desert camp run under an operator's licence is usually covered too. Restaurants, hotels and other licensed venues need the act covered by their entertainment permit. The team confirms what applies before the date. See the planning guide.

Children and family parties

Tanoura is family friendly and suits all ages, which makes it a good choice for a family birthday or an Eid gathering.

Questions people ask

Is there enough space at home for a tanoura dancer?

Usually yes. The dancer needs a clear circle about 2.5 to 3 metres across on a non-slip floor, away from steps, cables and furniture.

Can the show be outdoors on grass or sand?

Yes, for a traditional skirt. An LED skirt looks best on a flat, hard floor.

Do we need a permit for a party at our villa?

A private villa event usually needs no separate permit for the act, but this is confirmed before the date.

Is the show suitable for children?

Yes. Tanoura is family friendly and suits all ages.

Can we add other acts?

Yes. A dabke troupe can pull guests into the line after the tanoura show, and an ayala or yola set suits a heritage theme.
